Ways to connect Shopify and Airtable, compared

Airtable has no built-in Shopify sync, so merchants choose between a dedicated sync app and an automation tool. This page compares AirPower, Zapier, Make, and Whalesync on what matters for store data.

Written by the AirPower team. We make one of these tools, so we put it first, link every competitor fact to its source, and say when another tool fits better.

AirPower, Zapier, Make, and Whalesync side by side

The biggest differences are what happens to records that already exist, and whether edits in Airtable can go back to Shopify.

A table sync and an automation are different jobs

Zapier and Make react to events: a new order arrives, so a workflow runs once for that order. That suits notifications and hand-offs between apps. Bulk editing needs the opposite: every product, variant, or customer already in your store, in one table, kept current, with your edits sent back in one run. AirPower is built for that second job.

  1. Everything comes in

Saving a Shopify to Airtable Sync downloads every record you chose, then keeps the tables current as Shopify changes.

  2. Edit in bulk

Filter a view, paste, fill down, or use formulas across hundreds of rows. Nothing reaches Shopify yet.

  3. Send it back once

Click Sync now, or let a schedule or trigger link run it. One flat monthly price, however many rows change.

Which one fits your store

These tools also work well together. Plenty of stores keep their data in Airtable with AirPower and run event workflows with Zapier or Make on top.

Choose Zapier or MakeWhen the job is an event workflow across several apps, such as posting each new order to Slack, or creating Shopify orders from a form. Zapier has a Create Order action. AirPower can create draft orders from Airtable, but not orders.
Choose WhalesyncWhen you already use it for other tools and only need a read-only copy of products, variants, orders, and customers in Airtable.
Choose AirPowerWhen you want your whole catalog, stock, orders, or customers in Airtable as tables, and want to bulk edit them and send the changes back to Shopify. It also covers inventory by location, collections, metafields, metaobjects, translations, and market and B2B prices.

Questions

More answers in the help center, or email [email protected].

Does Airtable connect to Shopify on its own?

Not through Airtable Sync. Its list of sync sources doesn’t include Shopify, and Airtable Sync only moves data one way, into Airtable. Connecting the two needs an app or automation tool.

Can Zapier bring my existing Shopify products into Airtable?

Not with a regular Zap. Zapier’s help says a Zap won’t trigger on existing data and only picks up new data. Its Transfer feature can move existing records, starting from a Zapier Tables table.

Can I use AirPower and Zapier together?

Yes. Many merchants keep store data in Airtable with AirPower, then use Airtable automations, Zapier, or Make for event workflows on top of that base.

Who wrote this comparison?

The AirPower team. Competitor details come from each vendor’s own pages, checked in October 2026, and are linked under the table. Prices and features change, so check those pages before you choose.
